Building renovations: the ECO-Ren project is developing a decision-making tool

Developed in partnership with RBRC architects and WECK-AEBY & CIE SA, as well as researchers from the School of Engineering and Architecture of Fribourg and the School of Management Fribourg, ECO-REN aims to develop a smart dashboard that will help stakeholders to make the right decisions when renovating.

Drawing on an analysis of around ten rental properties in the city of Fribourg, this dashboard will enable the impact of renovations to be assessed by cross-referencing environmental criteria (reduction in CO2 emissions), economic criteria (profitability, energy savings), and societal criteria (tenant satisfaction).

The Engineering and Architecture (EA) and Economics and Services (ES) departments of the University of Applied Sciences Western Switzerland (HES-SO) support projects that address sustainability factors (environmentally friendly practices, circular economy, energy optimization), digital factors (efficiency and innovation through artificial intelligence), and societal factors (ethics, well-being at work). These projects are co-developed with partners from the professional world.
